Free information is everywhere. Outcomes still aren't.

YouTube, ChatGPT and online documentation are great tools, and we use them in class. What they can't do is check your work, notice when you're stuck, or keep you going until you finish.

  1. YouTube tutorials

Why pay to learn Excel when YouTube has a thousand tutorials?

    On your own
A tutorial doesn't check your work, and doesn't notice when you get stuck.
    At VIVA
Your instructor checks your spreadsheet in class and helps you fix it on the spot.
  2. Free AI chatbots

Why pay for AI training when ChatGPT is free?

    On your own
Knowing a tool exists isn't the same as using it well every day.
    At VIVA
You use AI on real tasks in every class until it becomes a habit.
  3. Free documentation

Why pay for a coding course when documentation is free?

    On your own
Few people finish a real project by reading documentation alone.
    At VIVA
You build a working project from start to finish, with help when you're stuck.

Inside a 90-minute class

Every session follows the same structure, so you always know what to expect and most of the time is spent practising on a computer.

  1. 0:00–0:10 · 10 min

    Recap & warm-up

A quick review of the last session and a short warm-up or typing drill.

  2. 0:10–0:35 · 25 min

    Demonstration

The facilitator shows the new topic on the projector, step by step.

  3. 0:35–1:15 · 40 min

    Hands-on practice

You complete the day's activity while the facilitator moves around the room helping.

  4. 1:15–1:25 · 10 min

    Review & Q&A

Share what you did; common mistakes are corrected and questions answered.

  5. 1:25–1:30 · 5 min

    Wrap-up

Key points, plus a short practice task to try before next time.

How we teach

  • Show, then do

Every step is demonstrated, then you try it yourself immediately.

  • Hands on keyboards

You're using the computer for at least half of every session.

  • At the pace of the room

Faster learners are paired with those who need more support, so nobody is left behind.

  • Real, local examples

Jobs, businesses, school and daily life in Dar es Salaam, not abstract exercises.

Every Friday is a practical lab that brings the whole week's skills together in one task.
